HOW TO AVOID ICE DAMS THIS WINTER
November 25, 2013November 25, 2013 - Steve Joos
You may be able to avoid ICE DAMS on your roof by purchasing a "snow rake" and removing some of the snow accumulation after each snowfall. Remove snow from the gutter level (roof edge) and upward at least 36 inches, so any snow melt can drain. Avoid scraping the shingles as much as possible as you can remove the protective shingle granules if too aggressive removing the snow.
